This release anticipates Sepultura's farewell EP, scheduled for April via ONErpm.
As the end of an extraordinary journey spanning more than four decades approaches, Sepultura prepares to write its final chapter later this year. With over 40 years of history, 14 gold records, and performances in more than 80 countries, the band has established itself as one of the biggest names in world metal and one of the most important representatives of Brazil on the global stage. After announcing their farewell EP “The Cloud of Unknowing”, the group presents “The Place”, the first single from the project, which will be released on all digital platforms via ONErpm on February 26th (Thursday) .
“This song is about immigrants who came to a place seeking refuge and to start a new life. Once assimilated by a false sense of security and relentless propaganda, they began to act against what they hated in themselves. The transition begins to escape self-hatred and aggression towards people who believed in the same ideas. I feel that the lyrics really follow the transitions in the song, starting with disappointment and reaching anger,” explains vocalist Derrick Green .
One last creative note
Currently taking their pioneering sound to audiences around the world with their farewell tour “Celebrating Life Through Death”, the band faced an inevitable question: how to mark the end of such a monumental journey? The answer came naturally: to record one last creative moment and preserve it for posterity.
The result is “The Cloud of Unknowing”, an EP scheduled for release on April 24th and considered one of the most diverse and emotionally intense works of Sepultura's final stretch. Featuring four tracks, including “The Place”, the project functions as a bittersweet farewell, bringing together the band's entire creative spectrum and reflecting both the ferocity and the depth that defined their legacy.
Formation and tracklist
The current Sepultura lineup features Derrick Green on vocals, Andreas Kisser on guitars, Paulo Jr. on bass, and Greyson Nekrutman on drums. The tracklist for "The Cloud of Unknowing" consists of "All Souls Rising," "Beyond the Dream," "Sacred Books," and "The Place," the track chosen as the project's first single.
