Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the iconic “Mama África,” Chico César joins forces with producer Jake Savona to release a new version: Mama África (Savona Mix).
Originally featured on César's debut album Aos Vivos (1995), the track became a national success in Brazil and launched his career as a celebrated singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist. The remix will be available on all digital platforms via ONErpm.

With a fresh arrangement that blends MPB with world music and contemporary grooves, the track comes to life in a music video filmed in Catolé do Rocha, the artist's hometown. The video features local residents, celebrating community and heritage.
“Being part of the 30th anniversary of ‘Mama África' alongside Chico is a huge honor,” says Jake Savona, British producer and multi-instrumentalist.
“From the beginning, the idea was to preserve the essence of the original while adding new elements that reflect our current influences and experiences.
This project is full of soul and heart, and I hope everyone feels the same emotion we felt when recording in Catolé do Rocha.” Alongside the music video, a short documentary titled Béradêro will be released.
The film captures Chico César's emotional return to his roots and highlights the cultural and social impact the song still carries. The project represents a meaningful chapter in César's artistic journey, celebrating his legacy through an international creative collaboration with Jake Savona and Xeque Mate Estúdios.
