A posthumous duet pairs the late icon’s original vocals with one of Turkish music’s fastest-rising voices
Serkan Nişancı has teamed up with the late Müslüm Gürses on a new version of “Olan Bana Oldu,” out now on all major streaming platforms via ONErpm. Built around Gürses’s original vocal recordings, the single opens an upcoming tribute compilation in which a range of artists reinterpret his best-known songs, introducing his repertoire to a new generation of listeners.
The Voice of Heartbreak
Few artists have shaped Turkish arabesque like Müslüm Gürses. Born in 1953 in Şanlıurfa province, in southeastern Turkey, he built a career of more than four decades on raw emotion, unmistakable phrasing and a rare gift for giving voice to heartbreak, longing and resilience. Since his death in 2013, his songs have only grown in stature, and his devoted fans still call him “Müslüm Baba.”

Two Generations, One Song
Serkan Nişancı arrives on the project with real momentum, fresh off the international success of his single “Hands over.” That makes “Olan Bana Oldu” more than a tribute: it’s a meeting between a legend and a voice that is reaching listeners Gürses never got to meet.
First released in 2002, the song keeps everything that made it a classic. Burhan Bayar’s moving melodies and now-iconic instrumental passages meet Tahir Paker’s poignant lyrics. The new arrangement adds soaring, emotionally charged strings, holding on to the drama of classic arabesque while bringing the song into a contemporary sound.
A music video, shot in a nostalgic old tavern, accompanies the release. Watch now!
“Olan Bana Oldu” is the first taste of a project built to keep Müslüm Gürses’s voice alive, and as this opening duet proves, his legacy is in good hands.
