Over two days in Nairobi, artists, producers, and songwriters gathered for workshops mentored by Grammy-winning talent
ONErpm’s commitment to growth has always been rooted in sharing knowledge and strengthening music communities. This mission has been reflected through a range of artist development initiatives around the world. This time, the ONErpm Africa team took that commitment even further by helping bring the first-ever East Africa edition of Spotify Fresh Finds Sessions to Nairobi.
Fresh Finds Sessions brought together eight emerging artists from Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, alongside songwriters and producers, for a two-day recording camp mentored by Grammy-winning British-Ghanaian producer JAE5 and Ugandan artist and producer Joshua Baraka. The sessions covered key topics including recording, branding, creative development, and music business skills.
Osagie Osarenkhoe, Director of A&R & Operations for Africa, said, “East Africa is producing some of the continent’s most exciting music right now. Seeing artists, producers, and songwriters come together to create, learn, and connect was a reminder of why initiatives like this matter.”

Fresh Finds: 10 Years Supporting New Talent
The recording camp followed a hands-on approach, introducing participants to new techniques, creative solutions, and real-world production workflows. Artists, producers, and songwriters learned directly from experienced creators, who used their own careers and creative processes as examples.

Launched in 2016, Spotify's Fresh Finds playlist has served as a springboard for independent artists, spotlighting more than 70,000 new artists over 10 years. In 2025, Spotify expanded the initiative with the Fresh Finds program, incorporating workshops and educational resources designed to support the next generation of emerging talent.
ONErpm artists have been featured on Fresh Finds playlists multiple times, underscoring the company’s strong position within the global independent music community.
