Moonchild, the Los Angeles trio made up of Amber Navran, Andris Mattson, and Max Bryk, return with Waves, an album that brings a more personal focus to their blend of jazz, R&B, and electronic music. On this project, the band moves away from the love songs that shaped much of its earlier catalog and turns instead toward grief, healing, resilience, and self-worth.
Amber describes the record as a reflection of recent years in her life. “This album is about processing loss and stepping into your power,” she says.
“It’s a lyrical departure, but it reflects what I’ve been going through these past few years.” That shift gives Waves a more emotionally raw tone, while keeping the group’s core sound intact.
With international marketing strategy and global distribution by ONErpm, the album also marks a return to in-person collaboration. At the same time, Moonchild embraces sampling and sonic experimentation in new ways.
Together, those choices shape a project that feels more vulnerable and grounded, while still expanding the band’s musical language.
